The vast forest stretches on the eastern frontier of Bengal is the home of the most beautiful species of the cat family. The royal Bengal tiger, the name that separates from the rest of the mammalians. Sunderbans is the largest mangrove forest of the world and the most beautiful bio-diversity park of the eastern India. The forest at present covers an area of about 4264sq km (approx) and forms a part of Indian mainland. In 1973 the “project tiger” was initiated with an area of 2585 sq. km in order to protect the endangered animal. The government declared the 1330.12 sq. km as core area. Sunderbans was given the National Park status in the year 1984. This forest is rich in flora and fauna and most important thing about them is their adaptability to the nature.
